Bio

Dr. Mawuli Komla Kushitor is an accomplished population scientist and public health researcher with over a decade of experience at the intersection of urban health, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and health policy in Africa. As Lead Researcher at EL Baal-Perazim Consulting Services, he brings extensive expertise in designing, evaluating, and managing large-scale research projects, providing evidence-based insights that shape health systems, policies, and development strategies.

Dr. Mawuli earned a PhD in Population Studies from the University of Ghana, where his academic journey also included a Master's in Population Studies and a Bachelor's degree in Geography and Psychology. His research explores critical issues such as urban health inequalities, health systems performance, drowning and injury prevention, and monitoring and evaluation of health policies.

His work has attracted international recognition and funding, including grants from the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH) and international collaborations on NCD prevention and health systems research. He has also held prestigious fellowships, including serving as a Visiting Global Research Associate at the University of Oxford and a Visiting Scholar at Pennsylvania State University.

In addition to his research leadership at EL Baal-Perazim, Dr. Mawuli is a Senior Lecturer and the Head of Department of the school of Public Health at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ghana, where he teaches and supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate students in courses spanning health policy, monitoring and evaluation, health economics, and geographic information systems. His mentorship has guided numerous master's and PhD candidates toward impactful careers in academia and public health practice.

Dr. Mawuli has contributed to over 30 peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals, presented at major global conferences, and advised national and international organizations on projects addressing cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, reproductive health, and health systems strengthening in Ghana and across Africa.

A passionate advocate for evidence-based solutions to public health challenges, Dr. Mawuli is committed to using research to inform policies and practices that improve population health and reduce health inequalities. At EL Baal-Perazim, he leads efforts in research consulting, proposal development, monitoring and evaluation, and academic collaborations, ensuring that clients benefit from rigor, innovation, and global best practices in research.
